Back by popular demand Rick will once again act as the Master of Ceremonies for the 22nd annual OWPI Conference & Tradeshow.
Rick is the current President of OWPI and has previously served on the OWPI Board of Directors for well over a decade. In addition, he has served as the OWPI representative on the Governor’s Advisory Commission in past years and has been a frequent speaker at many on-site wastewater conferences. His leadership as President of the organization will allow OWPI to continue to remain the largest voice for installers, pumpers, portable toilet sanitation technicians and regulators in the state of Illinois.
Due to his immense popularity at previous OWPI Conference & Tradeshows we have once again brought back renowned speaker, Hector Hernandez. Hector’s empowering speaking style, engaging personality, and friendly demeanor delivers his message in a way that equips his audience with the skills and confidence required to properly handle situations. Hector will be presenting information of two separate topics.
De-Escalation Training
This session offers valuable training and insights to our members to handle challenging encounters effectively. The training equips installers, pumpers, portable sanitation technicians, and regulators with practical strategies to de-escalate situations using body language and real time thinking shifts that work in practice. Topics covered include managing emotions, using effective body language, active listening, and the most effective way to respond for mutual respect and a de-escalation connection. The skills learned in this invaluable session teaches attendees the skills needed to de-escalate confrontations and prevent them escalating and potentially turning into a physical altercation.
Dog Attacks – How to prevent a dog attack or minimize injury if an attack is eminent
Hector, along with his K9 partner Chankla, teach the installers, pumpers, portable toilet technicians, and regulators how to protect themselves in dangerous situations with dogs. He demonstrates how “reading the dog’s body language” can tell you the difference between a harmless encounter and a potentially dangerous one, and what to do about each situation. His speaking technique will make you laugh, while also making you think seriously about dog behavior and how to stay safe in all kinds of dog encounters on the job site, in public, or at home.
